Since there are so many wonderful sites preceding my own, I decided I would create an award and attempt to recognize some of what I consider the "shining stars" of L.J. Smith fan dedication. So if you have a website dedicated to LJS or some aspect of her writing, you can apply for the Nova Award. But before you do, please read my little stipulations below:

The "rules":

1) The Nova Award is for excellence in LJS website design. Therefore, your page must be about or have a major section relating to LJS and her work. It can't just be "I like LJS and these are my favorite books by her", along with the standard set of links.

2) No "majorly under construction" sites, please. Since it's my award, I'll determine if you fall into that or not. However this does not ban you from applying permanently. You are very welcome to come back when you're done completely. :-)

3) Clubs are allowed to apply but 2) applies.

4) Character sites, be it original characters or canon (from the books) characters, are allowed but 2) applies and there must be more than just a bio and a few pictures of the character. Same for clan sites.

5) No more than three broken images. If I see more than three, I'll email you and let you know so you have a few days to fix it.

6) No more than five broken links (be it subpages or links on your links page). I'll also email you and let you know to fix them, but if you don't after the week or so I give you, then your app will be dropped.

The good stuff:

1) Since every LJS fan has different tastes, I'm going to try and make mine unique. When I inform a winner that they've won, I'll ask them for their favorite character (needs to be someone off the covers). i.e. if my best friend Bri had a page (and she doesn't yet) and one of her favorite characters is TSC's Diana Meade, her graphic would look like this (minus the word "sample" in bold red of course):

2) Also, if you win and you'd like to decide what color the text will be, feel free to tell me. It has to be a light color. If you don't care, you'll get whatever color strikes my whim at the time. LOL

3) if you do win and you don't have a particular favorite character (or your character isn't part of the cover art), you have the choice of the black rosebud (from the NW covers), members of The Secret Circle, or the "blood rose" (from the cover of DV3). Also there will be some instances where if the characters are grouped together, you'll end up with your character and the other(s) with him/her (i.e. Thea and Eric off the Spellbinder cover--it's impossible to separate them and make it look clean)

So if you want to apply, then send me an email with this info:

1) your name (or common nick)
2) your email addy
3) your website's name AND url
4) anything spectacular that makes your page worthy of the Nova

And good luck!

~Rowan
